Registration closed, Waitlist closed

Just wanted to say that it's not long to go now.

Registration is now closed, and so is the wait list. So no more emails asking to sign up, please!

The hostesses are all busy trying to match you up with your respective pals. You will be informed of your recipient by 7th September. If you don't hear from us by then, let us know. Don't email us before then asking.. we are all working at different rates. there are four hostesses and you won't know which hostess is handling your name till you get your email. Just because your friend or some random blogger has received his/her match, does not mean that you should have. Please be patient and wait till 7th September before emailing us. The only exception to that is if you receive an email from your hostess saying that you should have received the name of your recipient and you have not.

Over the next week or so, you will see the hostesses post the questionaires for each participant. I think they're fun to read. Once you get you recipient's name, you can search for his/her questionaire to find out his/her preferences.Remember, you don't have to follow preferences exactly, but if they say no acrylic, or no fun fur, or no angor (etc etc), please do abide by that. You should also contact your recipient anonymously so that he or she knows that you exist and are working on his/her scarf.

Have fun folks.. we'll be in touch soon!

Making Plans

I, like many of you, am so impatient. I want to start NOW. So, I have started scouting patterns. And wouldn't you know I've gotten lucky enough to find two I like in the same book! One will be perfect for a warm climate and the other for a cold one. Now I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope that the questionaire from my pal doesn't derail these plans. (Well, actually that wouldn't be so bad as that means I'd get to spend more time searching through patterns. LOL)

Filled to the brim with anticipation in New England!

Pattern is here

My scarf pattern has arrived! (It's a way cool pattern.) Now I just need to wait for my questionnaire and I can pick out the yarn I'm going to use!

This is exciting!

My daughter told me about this exchange, and I am eager to get started! I've done a couple of sewalong with Sew?IKnit! and have enjoyed those. This is such a great idea, to do something for someone you don't know--what fun!

question about anony email...

Do I remember correctly that the hosts are willing to issue a gmail invitation to those of us who don't already have an account to use as an anonymous email addy?

Oh, I've been drooling over yarns all day and getting the sock I'm knitting all icky and wet. Eeew!

New Member

I am excited to join this exchange. This is my first online posting as well as the first time I have participated in this kind of program. I have been knitting for only a little over a year, but plan to try new stitches or techniques to create this scarf.

Hello from WA

Hi! My name is Jen and I am knittingforsanity. Literally, in the past few weeks, what with leaving one job that I loved and starting a new job and back to school, and and and.... I know many of you can relate. I am so happy that I found the ISE. This is my first time participating although I have participated in knitting related exchanges in the past. I am excited to be here and can't wait to get my match so I can start knitting!

I made it...

Just in time. I saw this on my friend's blog and I thought this is going to be great. I just can't wait to get started. Whoo!

Just wanted to say hi!

Hello everyone! I'm Mandy from Ohio. This is the 2nd exchange for me I had so much fun the first time that I had to do it again!! I can't wait to get me partner and get my scarf started!! Thanks for doing this again Cynthia and Celia!!

It always pays to read :)

Well... I've just read back over the past few posts and I have accepted my invite in time.... phew!

Deborah
Hello Everyone!
I have finally gotten on - I have had a nightmare of a time with my email rejecting the invitation. I hope I can still be involved.

Deborah Downunder
I'm at the top of the wait list - I know it's sad for someone else to miss out, but I really want to join in!!

Registration is closed. Waitlist is open.

Hello everyone! Registration is now closed, but we ARE accepting names and information for a waitlist. Why do we need a waitlist, you ask? Because even though spots are first come, first serve, there are a FEW of you (and you've been either mentioned in a previous post, or emailed privately) that have either

1) not sent in your questionnaire
or
2) not accepted the blogger invite

If we do not have both of these by tomorrow evening, you may be kicked out of the exchange. That makes me sad, so please please PLEASE make sure you have completed both steps of the registration process.

If you are interested in signing up for the waitlist, PLEASE send in a completed questionnaire (find the link in the sidebar) AFTER reading the rules and guidelines.

I'm also pleased to announce that both Iris (no blog) and Sharon have accepted our plea for help and are the volunteer hostesses for round 3 of the International Scarf Exchange.

In the next few days, Celia and I will be divvying up the groups for each hostess, then allocating pals. Our goal is to have these assignments out by September 7th.
Have fun everyone!

This is skinheaded princess

yeh....I am in !
Hope I am doing the right thing here.....
So excited !

Western PA checking in

I everyone. I am just saying "hello" to everyone and so glad to be IN this exchange. I have just begun doing my first three exchange - the One Skein Secret Pal exchange http://oneskein.blogspot.com, the Favorite Color Swap http://favoritecolorswap.blogspot.com and the Whose Lace is it Anyway http://laceswap.blogspot.com/exchange. What wonderful experiences to meet new people who love to knit and who enjoy shopping for a person they never met. It is so exciting to send off the package with things you have selected for your pal. This should be fun and I am really excited to be here.

HI from Canada

It's really chilly here this morning, and it is starting to feel a little like scarf weather! Any other Canucks out there?

First knitty exchange

G'day all!

This is my first exchange where I will knit something for someone else rather than just sending them yarn or fleece and bits and bobs. How good is this? Only about a week before we find out who we are knitting for and what sort of scarf to knit!

anon!

Made it

Hi there. I made it under the wire and happy to have made it. This is going to be my first time doing an exchange. Also I'm moving the blog from a site it had been at to the site I have here so it ay be a bit hard to follow for a short time. Looking forward to this.

Accepted

I'm here! I'm so excited to start this scarf exchange.

Registration closing soon

We have only a few spots left and when those get filled, we will be closing registrations.

We will need a few days to sort out the pal assignments. You will receive an email from us with the details of your assigned pal by 7th September. If you don't hear from us by 7th September, and you don't see anything posted here on the blog about delays, please email us. Otherwise, please be patient and wait.

Here's another reminder to those who have signed up. Please send in your questionaires if you have not done so yet and accept your blogger invitation if you have not done so yet. Now would be a good time to work out how to post on the blog if you have never done so before. There are blogging requirements (check rules and guidelines if you have forgotten) and you should not wait till the blogging deadline before trying (and realise that you are having trouble with blogger!)

Just a little while longer...

Very first blogger post!!

I am a new blogger so please be patient. I have accepted the invitation and I have just made it under the wire. I have dusted off my needles and hope to get knitting soon.

Another last minute joiner!

I'm so glad I made it in time! I usually find out about things like this 2 days late, instead of 2 days before. I can't wait to find out who my partner is and get started.

Better Late Than Never!

Well, I waited 'till the last minute to join. I had all intentions of joining right away, but time just flew by. I can't wait to see who my pal is and what he/she likes so I can go yarn shopping! I will have to be satisfied right now with pondering over patterns!
Thank you for letting me join in the fun !

Finally!

Had a break from work to log in and join the blog. So if I'm not mistaken, all I need to do now is wait for my "victim" to be assigned! Too fun. I've done other on-line swaps before, but haven't ever done an International Scarf Exchange. I'm looking forward to getting to know the person I'm knitting for. Like most of you, I have scarf ideas in mind -- I just need to wait to make sure the idea will work for the person I'm knitting for!

Can't wait until the 1st.........

Can't Wait to Start!

Hi everyone! I'm really excited about this exchange. I've been daydreaming about what I might put together, but want to find out about my recipient, first! Where will you be from, what will you like? I can't wait to find out!

newbie :)

I'm pretty excited about this, since it is the first time i've done one of these. I started knitting about 4 years ago and I just love it. I can't wait to meet some new people and get started on this project.

excuse to buy yarn?

So I went on a major stash busting expedition & donated a whole lot of yarn to Soulful Knitting Ministries (they take scraps/half skeins/all of it) and I LOVE to shop so I am seriously looking forward to finding out what my secret pal likes! I really hope it's a new yarn I've never used before or an old favorite - I'm just excited to try a new pattern & shop for some new yarn. Really excited. There are so many scarf patterns out there & I do admit, I enjoy killing an evening surfing the internet for patterns and of course...yarn.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

I'm so excited to have accepted my invitation - and to have managed to crawl aboard at the last minute! This is my first knit exchange and I am deliriously thrilled to get this party started!

Question...

Will the person that I get as a pal also have me for his/her pal? Or, will each person have a pal to knit for and someone else knitting for them? (Does that make sense?)

If all is well

With any luck I am now entered in the scarf exchange. Wow, finding a name that hasn't been used wasn't easy. Now, finally, the exciting part. I am really anxious to be given a pal in the exchange. November is coming fast and I want to see what the person I am coupled with is interested in recieving. Although I have been knitting for years I consider myself far from an expert and this is the first time I have entered an exchange. Something new. It makes it more exciting. Oops, the dog is barking to come in and because it is pouring rain in my area I will run to comply. (In my case the dog rules the house) but I will post regularly and will be looking for words of wisdom from everyone. Happy creating. Knitting Mumsie

New Here

I just thought I would post an intro. Hello my name is Stacy and I am new...I am super excited this will be my first knit exchange. I did a stitchmarker swap this past month, but nothing knit or yarn. :) Just saying hello!

Yay!

I'm so glad i caught this incarnation of ISE. I look forward to making and receiving wonderful scarves. I also look forward to getting rid of my current head cold, because let's face it, who wouldn't want a scarf more than a head cold?

Melanie

If your name is on this list...

That means we need you to do something.

We still need questionaires from:

Mikey Wilkins
Wanda Coulter
Vicki Collins

We also need these people to accept their blogger invitations:

Deborah Jenner
Felicia Ryan
Judy Sanders
Lora J
Skinheaded Princess
Sandra Fleming
Pennie Rayfield
Dianne Bowker
Beth Bardash
Jean Pundiak
Stacey Bieberitz

As you know the deadline is 31st August. If we don't get your questionaire OR if you have not accepted the blogger invitation by then, we may have to drop you off the list and accept the registration of someone on the waiting list. If you are no longer interested in this exchange, please let us know so we can take you off the list now and someone else can take your place.

If you are wanting to register, please don't just leave us a comment. Please read the rules and guidelines (links on the right navigation sidebar) and fill in the questionaire (link also on the right navigation sidebar)which you can return to us by email (to isehostesses AT gmail DOT com). Most of you have done this and it's made registration so much easier for us. Thank you.

We're really keen to get started too. The quicker we get registrations over and done with, the sooner you get your pals allocated and the sooner you will be able to communicate with your pals and start knitting! I can't wait to see what goodies everyone makes this time. Just a few more days, everyone!

Hi From Greensboro, NC

Hello Everyone!
This is also my first knitting exchange as well. I love the smell of a yarn store.

Hello to All

My mom told me about this after she joined and asked me if I wanted to join, too. This is my first scarf exchange, and I'm really excited to go pick out yarn and a pattern. I was afraid at first that I didn't send my email early enough, but, I guess I made it. Can't wait to get started.

My First Exchange..

Yay for us! This is going to be one rockin' exchange. I can't wait to receive my pal's info so I can start. I love swaps.

Another ISE vet

Hey, back for my second go-around for the Scarf Exchange! *waving to ex-secret pal Mandy* I really enjoyed the last exchange and the beautiful photos that were posted. I'm glad to see that they were still retained because they're all inspiring. I have a lot more experience now in knitting and can't wait to try something challenging. I have several patterns in mind already but I'll wait to see what my secret pal prefers. Thank you again, Celia and CynCyn for the invite! I love participating among a group of people who gives and shares so generously with each other!

Hello everybody

Greetings from the silicon Valley, my name is Lu, I am a yarnaholic and I am really glad to be here. I love knitting scarves and I can't wait to start this exchange. I am currently working on the Midwest Moonlight scarf from Scarf Style.

Lu

Hello - again, from Denver

Hi again!

I posted earlier, but apparently my questionnaire got lost in cyberspace. I just sent it again, so I hope it gets through this time. I don't want to miss out!

Cathy

International Scarf Exchange

Hello from Big Sky Country
We've had a hot summer in Montana, so I'm ready for scarf weather. So many options for what kind to make, but I'll wait to hear what my pal requests so that I get it just right!
Hello from America's Deep South! I found this exchange rather accidentally, and wondered if I were too late to join. Thankfully, I wasn't. The idea of scarves flying around the globe . . . Terrific. Here's hoping creativity flows and new friendships are made!

Finally!

Greetings from Croatia! Hope I did it right! My first time with ISE! Can't wait! And I have million ideas in my head! Sandra.
Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I truly am excited for this to begin. I have a baby on the way (end of Sept) and hope I can get going on this before it comes along!

Excited!

Wow!
I am beyond excited about this exchange!
I was reading some knit blogs, saw mention of this, and thought that it was the greatest idea I'd ever heard.
I love to knit, and I love to get mail!
Can't wait to get my pal's info and get started on this scarf!

Waving from Cereal City (Battle Creek) MI

While knit blog hopping, I saw mention of ISE and followed some links to get here. Can you believe that I learned to knit a little over 30 years ago and don't actually own a hand knit scarf? I figure it's about time!

Can't wait to get started. :-)

Shannon/Twinsanity

Hi from Michigan

I can't wait to get started on my scarf. This is my first swap and I'm really looking forward to it. The past few days I've tried to narrow it down to a few pattern and yarn choices. Of course once I get my pal's info, all that could be out the window. No problem. Back to the yarn store ;-)

Hello from Alaska...

Oh, yay! I'm so glad I got in... It has already turned cool in Alaska, and I'm very much in the knitting mood (as opposed to the making jewelry -- and a living -- mood)! Looking forward to "meeting" my new pal...

International Scarf Exchange

Hi! Em from Australia here. Can't wait to get into yarn dying and scarf knitting for my pal.

My First ISE

Hi there from Golden, CO. This is my first ISE and I am looking forward to knitting for my pal! I have a few ideas already and have bought some yarn possibilities already. Looking forward to finding out who my pal is!
