In the mail!!

Done! Mailed! Phew!
I like to call this photo "Still Life Scarf, with Wine Bottle and Cheese Grater".
The scarf pattern is from www.d-made.com, and the scarf is just over 7 feet long. The hat pattern was made up by me. Here, I tried to incorporate cables similar to the ones on the scarf at the top of the hat.

I mailed the package this morning! I hope my partner likes it!

!!!!! NO WAY !!!!!!!!

Hello Wonderful Scarf Pal !! !! !! !! Wednesday night January 25th I was just looking at the blog here and admiring all the pretty scarves that everyone has made and there was one scarf that I made my 8 year old stop watching TV to come out and look at because I thought it was the "perfect ME" scarf.

Well tonight I came home from work and checked the mail and found a package was delivered. It didnt really cross my mind that the scarf could possibly be here, I thought it was just some yarn I got from ebay. When I got in the house I took care of getting dinner started and then sat down to open the mail. When I flipped over the package and noticed the address was NOT where I got the yarn from I started to scream for my daughter to come in my room.

With as much care as I could muster I tore open the package and gently pulled out the carefully packaged present inside. I did take my time to read the card first and started to cry (yes I am over emotional at times). My dear Scarf Pal wrote that she hoped that I might have visited her blog before, and well just to let you know, you are in my favorites and have been for a while. Miss Stripey Tiger all I can say is WOW THIS IS BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

My package included not only the "perfect ME" scarf that I was drooling over when I was looking at the completed scarves but also some cookies (that my daughter has claimed as hers) AND some more of the same beautiful yarn she used. I love the scarf so much, thank you, I dont want to take it off!!!! I keep holding it and thinking how lucky I am. I cant stop smiling.....this is awesome.

Here it is! I opened my package and headed to my LYS so they could take a picture of me wearing it.

finished knitting and almost sent

Well, both scarf and hat are finished and sitting pinned out to the blocking board (the scarf; the hat is just stuffed with plastic bags). I took a couple of pictures of them last night, and I'll see if I can 't get them posted soon. The items themselves will hopefully be on their way west to my patient pal by Monday!

I'm really excited. I really like them and hope my pal does to!

Best,
Kim in NJ

I'm finished!!

I finished my scarf last night, and will be blocking it today. Woohoo! I'll be taking pics once it's blocked for you to see, and then putting it in the mail for my secret scarf pal... who might that be? I'm not telling yet!!

It's here!!!

I almost feel like the little girl from Poltergeist... it's here!

Or so my husband told me when he called to say that we just received three packages, one from Lisa Souza, one from OSS Publishing, and one from International Scarf Exchange.

I'll be leaving here at 3:30 EST, arriving home around 4:00 EST, and should have it opened by 4:02 EST. So, thank you in advance!!! (and I'm running through the people who said they were mailing to the East Coast).

Got my scarf

Thanks wendy (plumpknitter) for my scarf which arrived yesterday. It's just the right length and really soft. My 9 yo son loves it too so I hope I can get to wear it sometimes! It's true- you can't see the grafting at all .
Fiona

Another one Finished, on time too!

Knit, blocked and ready for mailing. Sometime this afternoon it will begin its journey across the pond to the west.

more pics and specifics on my blog

I am glad to know there are people still knitting away. When I signed up for this before Christmas, I was sure that I would have plenty of time to knock out a scarf, forgetting how busy this time of the year tends to be. Oh well. I will hopefully finish before deadline and my recipient will have a scarf right in time for spring. I am knitting with Rowan wool cotton which is an incredibly squishy yarn. It is fun seeing the yarn transform into a wearable object! Pics when done.

oops

Hi all...

In December I received my beautiful scarf and went on the site to thank my secret scarf pal. What I didn't know was that there is a comment button below each post and that my post had comments from a number of people. I just figured it out yesterday and read the posts.

Beth...I'm sorry. I'm just a newbie here. I love the scarf and I am still getting compliments on your wonderful work.

Here is a picture of me wearing the scarf for you all to see...finally.

Again, sorry....just a clueless newbie here.

Finished - (well almost)

I finished my scarf - I love the way it came out. This pattern was so much fun to make - I plan on making one for me too.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Now I just need to finish the hat!

Sorry, Collette. Your picture was too big and I had to resize it for you. Hope you don't mind. Celia

This is my exchange project

I finish the scalf and my pal had receive it !!

Scarf Update

I'm still plugging away! It's taking me longer than I expected and it's much wider than it's supposed to be but I can't really change it now unless I frog it all and start over - and I don't want to! Anyway, it's turning out beautifully! I hope my pal likes it even though it's probably going to be the last scarf received since I'm so dang slow!!

It's done

My scarf is done, it's at home while I am away, so when I get home it will be blocked and sent. It's my own pattern in and I think it came up a treat!

Finished Object! Do not adjust your TV monitor:

Hurrah for finished projects! Sorry for the dim lighting, but this was the best I could do with my camera phone. Someone in the Eastern Standard Time Zone should be expecting something pretty soon. I really enjoyed this exchange and being a participant. I hope my pal enjoys it. It's a Multidirectional Scarf based off the free pattern one gets from joining the Yahoo! Multidirectional knitting group. It was a good beginner's project and I loved working with the yarn. I think I'm getting tired of making accessories though. It's time to make some actual clothes someday. Thank you for this exchange. It provided me such great motivation!

Scarf on the way

I am sending out my scarf today to my pal and I will post a picture as soon as I know that she recieved it. I do not want to give the suprise away.

I love my secret pal, Kelli!

I got my scarf on Saturday! Woohoo! I absolutely love it. The color and the pattern is perfect. I love how the cable pattern is on both sides. The yarn is so soft and luxurious. It's Baby Alapaca Grande and the pattern is Vintage Velvet from Scarf Style. I wore it out last night with my new tweed purple coat and it looked great. My birthday is tomorrow, so it was nice to receive this early surprise present. Isn't the packaging great?

Thank you so much, Kelli! I can't tell you how special you made me feel by knitting me this grogeous scarf. Kelli (aka Kellyn) doesn't have a blog yet, so I can't link to her.

Fear not, my secret pal, I am still knitting your scarf. I have not contacted you via e-mail, but that does not mean I haven't been thinking of you. I have been reading your blog, hoping that the yarn color and pattern I chose will suit you. I won't show the work-in-progress scarf yet, but I will show you the yarn I am using. Just a hint: My secret pal lives in the east coast (USA).

On it's Way...

I sent out my scarf yesterday! Since I already posted a picture of it when I had just finished it, I won't post the same one twice.

I can't wait until she gets it!!

This has been a really fun exchange for me; I'm glad I decided to join up!

Just checking in

My scarf was sent before Christmas and the lovely Maxine has modelled it.

I've been looking in my letterbox daily, but alas, no hint of a scarfy looking parcel yet!!!

I've got a few emails from my scarf pal that has really got me intrigued and I've been having a great time trying to work out/guess which scarf is for me.

Maisie.

Be on the look out.....

I will be sending this today....

Appropriately named, "Branching Out Scarf", this was my very first lace project. I used Knit One Crochet Too...The Gourmet Collection, Creme Brulee DK. It is a luscious 100% pure merino superwash wool. She measures approximately 6" x 80".

I am just so proud of it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed with the hopes that my exchangee will love receiving it just as much as I loved making it!

Lookee what came in the mail...

I have a lovely postman - this morning I had to go out shopping, so I was out when he tried to deliver this:

But (as I've said), he's lovely, so instead of just sticking a card through the door telling me that I was out, and will have to either go and collect it or arrange another delivery time, he hid it in our recycling box. And then he saw me on my way home, and told me he'd left a parcel. I was not a patient Mummy when my 21 month old wanted to run repeatedly up and down the hill by the playground.

But then, I finally got home, and opened the box to find this:

And then I opened the envelope to find a lovely note from Michelle, and a sheep fridge magnet (I did try to take a pic, but it came out all blurry, sorry). And then I undid the tissue paper, and found this:

And when I opened it all out, I found this:

Michelle - it's beautiful, thank you so much - I saw in your blog that you hope that it will be loved - and it will (already is being) - very much.

For those who like details - Michelle has knitted me Peacock's Pride from Lavish Lace, using Knit Picks Shadow and Cherry Tree Hill Supersock yarn - I've been drooling over Cherry Tree yarn for ages, and now I can enjoy it without having to do any work :-)

Thank you again Michelle!

Clapotis Au Revoir!

My Clapotis is finally finished. It took a bit longer than I had expected but I am happy with how it turned out. I have posted several photos here as I don't have my own blog to direct you to. Maybe one day . . . I sure hope my secret pal likes it! I may just have to knit one for myself soon. But first I have to try some of the other gorgeous scarves I've seen in this exchange - the irish hiking scarf, the snakey scarf that Liesel is making and many others. My "to do" list of knitting projects is growing every day. This has been my first exchange and it has been great. Thanks to the organizers for all of your hard work. I remain amazed at all the different types of yarn and styles of scarves that people select. So if you're on the East Coast watch the mail for a scarf in the next week or so. I have blocked it and am waiting for it to dry. As soon as it does it will be au revoir. I'm also excited to see which scarf ends up finding it's way to my home soon . . .

Heading to the US!

I've finished my scarf too!

It's Alpaca Silk (Debbie Bliss), Vintage Velvet from Scarf Style, with more revealing photos on my blog ;)

Update

Lady Godiva is out, Malabrigo is in. I haven't yet cast on for this second scarf, Pal, but I know exactly what I want to do. Maybe I'll get it cast on and a few rows knit tonight on my lunch. I feel bad starting over so late but I just was not happy with the first scarf. I'll do my best to knit like the wind!!
